SKILLS FOR THE WEEK OF MARCH 13-17
Math: mentally adding 10s and 100s, finding the value of the symbols Reading: Cinderella unit (comparing and contrasting two versions; identifying the point of view) Language Arts: suffixes Writing: lab reports Social Studies: Unit 5 Government unit Along with building toy cars last week, the students participated in several experiments this week. In science, we performed "The Hershey Kiss Heat" experiment. In order to learn how heat moves, the students put chocolate in their opened hands and closed hands. Their reactions were priceless. In writing, students conducted a modified version of the toy car experiment. They were able to change an element of the toy car experiment, perform the experiment, and write a lab report. This week, the class will perform another experiment and write a lab report. They will catapult cotton balls and ping pong balls in order to see which one travels farther. It will be an exciting week in writing. Cinderella Day Thursday is our Cinderella Day. Students will participate in Cinderella-themed activities throughout the day, and we will attend the "Second Grade Royal Ball" in the afternoon. Students may dress as a character from any version of Cinderella that we’ve read (or even one they have read at home), or they may dress in nice clothes. Cookies and bottled water will be served at the ball, and music will play. Because of limited space, the ball is for students only. I’ll take pictures and post them on SeeSaw. Cinderella Day is a memorable day for the students. TOPICS/SKILLS for Week of March 6-March 10:
