WELCOME OUR NEW LITTLE CRAWLY MEMBERS!
The students enjoyed observing their new little caterpillars and naming them. We voted on the names and they are: Spike, Luna, Emoji, and Godzilla Jr. I am excited for the students to get a first hand experience on previewing the stages of a butterfly's life cycle.
Field Trip Reminders
We are very excited for our field trip to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens on Tuesday, May 2. We’ve had a change to our original plan. Because of the road closures and construction throughout Atlanta, travel times are uncertain. It is our intent to leave Sweet Apple as soon as the buses arrive, and we hope to leave the SAE parking lot at 9:00. We hope to arrive at the Botanical Gardens at 10:00, but our arrival time, of course, is dependent on the traffic situation. We have to leave the Gardens earlier than expected, no later than 12:00. For this reason, we are unable to eat lunch at Piedmont Park as we originally planned, and we will eat lunch when we return to school.
Please follow these guidelines as you prepare your child for our trip:
- Have your child wear his/her orange second grade t-shirt and tennis shoes.
- Apply sunscreen before your child comes to school if you wish.
- Pack TWO substantial snacks- one for your child to eat before we leave school and the other to be eaten before we leave the Botanical Gardens. Please send snacks in disposable packaging.
- The second grade teachers will provide water bottles for your child that they will be given before we leave the Gardens.
