Students will receive a study guide this week that we will complete in class, and the assessment over this unit will be Friday, September 30.
THE WEEK AHEAD....
Picture Day is Friday, September 23. An order form was sent home in Friday's Friday Folder. If you would like to order pictures, please complete the order form and send it in to school on Friday, September 23. I will collect the money in the morning and hold onto it for safe keeping. PLEASE DO NOT SEND MONEY AND ORDER FORM BEFORE FRIDAY!
Our first trip to the Science Lab is Friday, September 23 at 9:00am. As always, the Science Lab is great fun for the students, and Mrs. Travers plans exciting, fun, and engaging activities. You should have received a Sign-Up Genius with slots that you can volunteer to help. All volunteer slots have been filled. Thank you all for volunteering!
We have a fun activity planned for Wednesday, September 28 that will last the entire day. We are planning a Second Grade "Trip to the Moon!" We have many fun activities that will all center around space, and we will enlist the help of parent volunteers to help throughout the morning. We will also ask for volunteers to send in special snacks for the day. Please keep your eyes open for a Sign Up Genius that will be sent early this week!
It's Parent/Teacher Conference Time already! A Sign Up Genius will be sent with available times in the next couple of weeks. Some times will be available throughout the week, and others will be available throughout the day on Tuesday, October 11.
You also should have received a Sign Up Genius for Mystery Reader. Each Monday we will have a Mystery Reader from 10:45-11:05 to read to the students. I ask a few things from you if you sign up to be a Mystery Reader:
1. Make sure you have registered as a volunteer with Fulton County Schools. This takes a few days to process, so please allow yourself enough time through the registration process before you volunteer for the first time.
2. Please send me 5 clues about yourself by the Monday morning of when you are going to be our Mystery Reader. I read the clues to the students and they try to guess the identity of our Mystery Reader. They LOVE this, and it makes them very excited as they try to guess who our special guest is.
3. Please arrive no later than 10:50. We leave for lunch at 11:15, so we don't have extra time if our Mystery Reader is running late.
4. Please bring 2-3 picture books with you. If you don't have picture books, you can email me ahead of time and I'll have some available for you. Or, you can stop by the Media Center on your way to our classroom and check out a few before you come and read.
