GINGERBREAD MATH
On Tuesday, December 20, we are going to do a fun Gingerbread Math activity with our homeroom class. Students will receive a construction paper gingerbread person, and they will be able to “purchase” materials to decorate the gingerbread person. I am asking for several things to make the activity a success:
The items will be assigned a monetary value, and students will be given an imaginary $1.00 that they can use to purchase items. Students will use the items to decorate a gingerbread man. Parent volunteers will be asked to help students determine the total cost of the items and distribute the items to the students.
Please let me know if you’re able to help. The Gingerbread Math activity should be a lot of fun, and I think the whole week will be fun for the students as well!

- 4-6 volunteers to come in and help from 7:50-8:45
- ribbon
- googly eyes
- pompoms
- pipe cleaners
- sequins

This week, my math class wrapped up our Money Unit with a special breakfast. Each child ordered their food by finding the total and leftover. It was a fun and tasty way to end the unit. We also attended the science lab on Tuesday where more treats were enjoyed. The students created gas by mixing baking powder and vinegar, melted chocolate in order to enjoy pretzels and marshmallows, and even made pancakes. It has been a VERY SWEET week!
