TRIP TO THE MOON
Our Trip to the Moon Day was such a memorable experience. After receiving 'clearance' from our NASA flight crew members, we blasted off and completed several space activities. They loved rotating to different second grade classrooms. Of course, they needed to take along their helmets and space packs/oxygen (aka their backpacks). After completing space activities, the astronauts needed to take a break with space stories and snacks. We also took a break at the International Space Station (the playground for recess and the cafeteria for lunch.) Upon landing on the moon, we placed our American flags on our giant moon in the hallway and enjoyed a space themed movie (Magic School Bus: Gets Lost in Space) while eating moon pies and astronaut ice cream. Then, it was time to return to Earth. It was a VERY busy day and their excitement was priceless.
